Imbak Canyon, a hidden valley, is located in Borneo's centre. The hidden valley lies 300 kilometres from Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Malaysia, and is tucked amid sandstone cliffs that rise more than 1,000 metres above sea level. This area contains some of the world's oldest rainforest tracts, some of which are approximately 100 million years old. Imbak Canyon Forest, which was designated a Class 1 (Protection) Forest Reserve in 2009, now serves as a vital wildlife corridor connecting Maliau Basin and Danum Valley.
